DKIM email authentication
Why is email authentication important?
Email authentication is like a digital doorman for your emails. It checks whether the email really comes from the specified domain. DKIM, or DomainKeys Identified Mail, is an important tool in this process. It adds a digital signature that only the real sender can have.
Think of it as a seal that confirms: ‘Yes, this email is genuine and secure.’ This means your emails are less likely to end up in spam and your communication remains credible. Google also recommends using DKIM in its Email Sender Guidelines.
What is DKIM?
With DKIM, your emails fly securely through the network. This technology virtually knocks on the door of your email recipients and presents a digital ID. This proves that the email actually originates from your domain and has not been tampered with en route. Think of DKIM as an invisible seal stamp: your messages are marked with a unique code that is verified by the recipient. If everything matches, your email lands directly in the inbox like a VIP – without detours via the spam folder. Secure, trustworthy and uncomplicated – this keeps your digital mail on the safe side.
How does DKIM work?
DKIM adds a special signature to all emails sent by BOTTIMMO on your behalf, which is assigned to your domain (internet address). This enables the receiving email server to verify that the email is actually from you. Email traffic is more secure and the likelihood of your emails ending up in the recipient's spam folder is significantly reduced.
What are the advantages of DKIM?
- Better email delivery
DKIM helps prevent your emails from being marked as spam and ending up in the spam folder. It ensures that your emails are more likely to arrive in the recipient's inbox. - Protection against email spoofing
DKIM prevents someone from spoofing your email address and sending emails on your behalf. It helps protect your identity. - More trust among recipients
When recipients see that an email really comes from your address, they trust the message more. This is good for your image and credibility. - Compliance with rules and standards
Many email services require DKIM to ensure that emails are secure. Using DKIM shows that you take common security standards seriously. - Better security with other methods
DKIM works well with other email security methods. This ensures stronger overall security for your email communications. - Avoid blacklists
If many of your emails are marked as spam, your email address could be added to a blacklist. DKIM reduces this risk by increasing the credibility of your emails. - Better relationship with recipients
When people know that your emails are secure, they are more likely to open and respond to them. This is good for business and helps build a good relationship with your customers.
How can DKIM be used in the BOTTIMMO system?
- Log in to your internet address (domain) host.
- Navigate to the settings area where you can configure DNS settings for your domain.
- Open your BOTTIMMO system.
- In BOTTIMMO, go to Settings → Email → DKIM.
We have already stored all the necessary codes there for you:
- Copy the codes in the BOTTIMMO system and paste them into the appropriate fields at your internet address (domain) hosting service.
- Save the changes – done.
- Depending on your hosting service, it may take some time for these changes to take effect.
