Facebook Business Manager – Assigning rights
Why is permission management in the Business Manager important?
The Facebook Business Manager is a free tool that helps you manage all business-related Facebook areas in one place. It is especially important for:
- working with employees or agencies
- securely granting and removing access rights
- keeping private and business Facebook areas clearly separated
With the Business Manager you can:
- add or remove users
- invite partners such as BOTTIMMO
- control access rights for your fan page, ad account and pixel
- Only the Business Manager allows these rights to be granted correctly and securely.
Who should have access to your Business Manager?
Only people who really need to work with it should receive access.
This typically includes:
- you as the owner or administrator
- employees who run advertising for your business
- your marketing agency
- service providers such as BOTTIMMO, if they set up campaigns for you
💡 Avoid giving access to people who do not need it permanently.
Where do I find the permission management section?
You will find the relevant sections in the business settings of your Business Manager.
There you can:
- add people
- add partners
- connect pages (fan pages)
- assign ad accounts and pixels
Open your Business Manager and go to the business settings.
Granting or removing user permissions
How to add new users:
- Open the business settings in the Business Manager.
- Click on People on the left.
- Select "Add".
- Enter the person’s business email address.
- Choose which role the person should receive:
- Employee access
- Administrator access
- Then assign access to:
- your Facebook page
- your ad account
- your pixel
How to remove users:
- Open People again.
- Select the relevant person.
- Remove the assigned permissions or delete the person entirely from your Business Manager.
Adding your fan page to the Business Manager
If your Facebook page is not yet visible in the Business Manager, you can add it easily.
Here is how:
- Go to the "Accounts" section.
- Click on "Pages".
- Select "Add page".
Choose:
- add your own page
- request access to a page
The page will then appear in your Business Manager and can be assigned to users or partners.
What types of permissions exist?
Facebook distinguishes between several levels. The most important are:
Fan page permissions
- publish posts
- reply to messages
- manage settings
- manage roles
- create ads for the page
Ad account permissions
- create ads
- manage budgets
- view campaign data
- view payments
Pixel permissions
- view data
- assign the pixel to campaigns
💡 It is important to grant only the permissions that are truly necessary.
Adding a partner such as BOTTIMMO
If BOTTIMMO creates campaigns for you, the partner needs access to specific areas.
A partner access is different from a normal user access.
Here is how to add a partner:
- Open the business settings.
- Click on "Partners" on the left.
- Select "Add partner".
- Enter the partner ID provided by BOTTIMMO.
- Select which areas BOTTIMMO should have access to:
- your fan page
- your ad account
- your pixel
- Confirm your selection.
The partner only receives the permissions that you explicitly grant.
Summary: The most important points
- Permissions in the Business Manager can be granted cleanly and securely.
- Employees and partners can be added or removed at any time.
- Fan pages, ad accounts and pixels can be managed centrally.
- Partners such as BOTTIMMO require a separate “partner access”.
- Grant only as many rights as are truly necessary.
