Facebook setup: Page, advertising account and Business Manager

1. Your Facebook business page

How to create your business page – step by step

  • Open your Facebook profile and log in.
  • Click on "Create""Page" in the top menu.
  • Give your page a suitable name – ideally the name of your company.
  • Choose a category, e.g. "Estate Agent".
  • Add a short business description.
  • Click on "Create Page".
  • Then open your new page and add:
    • Profile photo (e.g. logo)
    • Cover photo (e.g. team photo or local landmark)
    • Username (so people can find you more easily)
    • Contact information, opening hours, business details

2. The Facebook Business Manager – your central control centre

  • Open https://business.facebook.com/create.
  • Click on "Create account" and fill in the form.
  • Select the option "Promote its own goods or services".
  • Open your email inbox and confirm your details.
  • Give your Business Manager a clear name (e.g. "Müller Immobilien GmbH").

3. The Facebook ad account

Without an ad account you cannot run ads. You can either add an existing account or create a new one.

Set up an ad account – step by step

  • Open the Business settings in the Business Manager.
  • Go to "Accounts → Ad accounts" and click on "Add".
  • Choose the appropriate option:
    • Add an ad account 
      The account will be permanently assigned to your Business Manager. 
      You must be the owner of the account and the administrator of the Business Manager.
    • Request access to an ad account 
      The account belongs to someone else (e.g. your marketing partner). 
      The owner must approve your access.
    • Create a new ad account 
      Choose this option if you do not yet have an ad account.
  • Give the ad account a clear name and select currency & time zone.
  • Choose who will use the account (usually your own company).
  • Add your payment information. After this, you can start running ads.

4. Permission management in the Business Manager

If you want an agency to run ads for you, you must grant the appropriate permissions.

In the Business Manager you can assign or remove permissions for:

  • Your business page
  • Your ad account
